Dolls Hair – What Are The Choices?
A reborn doll requires a good head of hair to make it look realistic. Although lots of babies do not have much hair when they are born, there is usually at least some there, so depending on what age you want your doll to be would depend on how much hair you root onto your doll. Each strand of hair needs to be individually rooted into the scalp. This is done by the means of a special needle which loops the hair into the scalp and then out again. There are lots of books and videos available to see how this is done.

The choices for hair are fairly limited with mohair being the most favored as it’s texture is fairly close to human hair texture. Viscose is also used. Viscose is a natural plant fiber that is sort of like rayon.
Of course color and texture play a big part in your choice of product to make your doll’s hair with e.g. it is no use using a crepe fiber, which is curly, if you want your doll to look Chinese, who nearly all have straight hair. A light skinned doll is not going to have black hair, a dark skinned one would look weird in blond hair.
